He Honors Our Request

Warriors Arise: April 24, 2024

Matthew 9:1 So He got into a boat, crossed over, and came to His own city.

They didn't have to beg. Jesus would honor their request. I am sure there were more people in the region where these two former demon-possessed men lived, that needed Jesus' help, but He left. He went away just as they had begged Him to do.

Can you even imagine? I struggle with this passage every time I read it. I have to check myself. When Jesus has come, when I know He is here with me and working a miracle in my life or in the lives of those around me, how do I respond? Does the power of God scare me? Do I want things to remain as they were? Have I lost hope so I don't believe what has happened has actually happened?

I wondered if His disciples said, "But He can do so much more. Go bring your lame, your lepers, the blind will see, and the deaf will hear. Just bring them to Him."

Jesus respected their request. He got into the boat and crossed over. Did they even know what they missed? Did they even understand He was there to set all of them free?

Pause and search your mind: Can you remember a time when Jesus came and wanted to do more in your life, but you sent Him away?

My Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. I come before You asking forgiveness. I am sure there has been many times in my life when You came and wanted to do more in my life, the lives of my family and friends, but I wasn't ready. I turned You away. I wanted to remain in my sin. I wanted to remain in my bondage. I ask to be forgiven. I was afraid of the unknown. I didn't know how to live free. I was comfortable in what I knew even though it was bondage. Thank You for not giving up on me. Thank You for returning again and again until I finally engaged with You and embraced all You wanted to give me. I praise You for Your lovingkindness. You are wonderful to me. I praise You for setting me free and when I walk back into bondage You are my Rescuer. I wait to see You coming. I anticipate the next time. I praise You for my freedom in Jesus' Name, amen.
