Warriors Arise: April 13, 2021

Daniel 6:19-22 (NKJV) Then the king arose very early in the morning and went in haste to the den of lions. 20 And when he came to the den, he cried out with a lamenting voice to Daniel. The king spoke, saying to Daniel, “Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?” 21 Then Daniel said to the king, “O king, live forever! 22 My God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths, so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent before Him; and also, O king, I have done no wrong before you.”

Do you think Daniel knew what Darius was doing all night? Once Daniel realized the lions were not going to eat him, do you think he was praying for the king to come back and let him out? I really like his response to the king, "O king, live forever!" In my mind I picture Daniel breathing in relief that the king came back. It is one thing to be protected but you certainly wouldn't want to die from starvation.

We can find ourselves in a situation where God protected or provided for us in the present but then we wonder if God remembered that we still needed to get out.

For instance, remember Joseph? This is interesting history starting in Genesis 38. His brother's sold him into slavery. He ws taken from the land of Canaan and sold in Egypt. As a slave God prospered him. He became second in the household of Potiphar, Pharaoh's captain of the guard. Potiphar didn't concern himself with anything, except what he wanted to eat. He left everything else up to Joseph. However, Potiphar's wife falsely accused Joseph of rapping her and he was put in prison. Talk about darkness getting darker. But Joseph stayed faithful to God even though he had not idea how God was going to get him out of the situation. Joseph was trusted by the guards to serve in the prison. While there, he interpreted dreams for Pharaoh's cupbearer and baker. Both interpretations came to pass. A couple years later Pharaoh had a dream that was tormenting him and finally the cupbearer remember's Joseph. Long story short, God did not forget about Joseph. Joseph interprets Pharaoh's dream and is promoted to second in command over all Egypt.

Daniel only had to wait in the darkness for, maybe, 12 hours. Then he saw that God took care of everything. Sometime we can be praying for God to do one thing, the thing we need right in front of us. "Oh God! Please, don't let these lions eat me!" When we actually need God to do so much more. Daniel, not only, needed God to shut the mouths of lions, but also, have someone remove the stone that covered his way out. That wouldn't be enough unless it was the king. He still had a death sentence to be fulfilled. So, God needed to move not he heart of the king, to let the him know Daniel had done nothing wrong. Keep in mind if you were given a death sentence and the first try didn't work they would proceed with something else. However, in this case, Daniel needed to be proven innocent and this nonsense needed to end.

You see, there was more to what Daniel needed. There was more to the miracle. We can focus on the God shutting the mouths of the lions, which is amazing in itself. But, he also needed the stone to be moved and his death sentence to be dissolved. Thankfully, the decree said the offenders would be thrown into the lion's den and Daniel was. But it didn't say what happened if the offender was not eaten by the lions. So, what happened next would be determined by the king. God had seen to every detail not just the urgent, ever present, needing to not be eaten.

Father, You know exactly what we need. You know the complete answer to what is before us right now. You know what the fullness of the need requires. I may only look at my present situation but do not have a clue how to get out and be restored to what You have called me to do. I ask for You to bring about the fullness of your wisdom and power so that I am positioned to fulfill the dreams You have placed with in me. I ask for You to restore me body, soul and spirit. I will serve You and be a part of expanding and releasing Your kingdom here on earth. You are my God and I will worship You and do all You have put in my hands to do. I will lift Your name on high for there is no other who loves me like You. There is no other that protects me like You do. There is no other who can provide like You. You are my God, because even though I may walk through the valley of death, You will always be with me and guide me into pastures that are green. You know things I need that I can't even see yet. You know how to open doors and remove stone coverings, so I can be free from he plots of my enemies. You are my God. You rescue me and restore me to my calling. I worship You with all that I am in Jesus' name amen.
