Warriors Arise: September 25, 2020

John 21:7-10 (NKJV) Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it), and plunged into the sea. 8 But the other disciples came in the little boat (for they were not far from land, but about two hundred cubits), dragging the net with fish. 9 Then, as soon as they had come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid on it, and bread. 10 Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish which you have just caught.”
Verse 10 seems odd. I wonder why Jesus wanted them to bring some of the fish they caught when He already had breakfast ready. There is no doubt in my mind that Jesus had enough for all of them to eat. So why is He having them bring some of the fish?
I believe one of God's love languages is doing a task with us. He gives us the opportunity to accomplish a task with Him and in turn there are times we He extends His help in a task we are doing. Jesus didn't have to help the disciples, in their fishing expedition but He did. Jesus already had fish cooking on the fire. Breakfast was almost ready. He had enough to provide breakfast for all of them. Yet, Jesus tells them bring some of the fish which they had caught.
Throughout the Bible there are multiple examples of God coming along side someone to accomplish a task and the same for those joining the task God is already at work doing. God joined Sharach, Meshack and Abed-Nego in the fiery furnace. God goes to Gideon and calls him to join His plans to rid them of the Midianites. God goes to Moses and instructs him to go free the Children of Israel. Elijah challenges Jezebel's 850 false prophets on Mt. Carmel and calls upon God to send fire from heaven. The list could go on. I am sure you have thought of a few.
My point, God likes to accomplish task with us. Jesus provided the fish and the disciples had to cast the net and pull it in.
Daniel 11:32a (NKJV) the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.
Why would God want us to do the tasks and great exploits with Him? Since He obviously has the power, the ability and the resources, there isn't anything that He would technically "need" our help with. How will we really know Him, if we never see Him in action? Think about when a parent teaches their child to do something. It could be cooking, fixing a car, sewing, teaching them to hit a baseball, skiing, carpentry etc. The parent teaches the child something they know how to do and it is even more of a celebration when the child learns to do something well that the parent also did well. When this happens there is a bond between the parent and child, a respect between the two, appreciation and gratitude. When God invites us to join Him in a task, a great exploit, He is inviting us to know Him, His capabilities, His understanding in a situation or task and His love as He invests in us; while we join Him.
Why would God join us in the tasks and great exploits He has called us to do? When we begin a task, seize an opportunity, or step out in faith to do the great exploit, we may recognize along the way that even though God chose us to do the task, it wasn't that we were completely alone. God was with us. He sent Moses to Egypt and did not appear to go with Him; however, He did send His power. Even when Moses and the Children of Israel were backed up to the sea as Pharaoh and his Egyptian army road hard in their chariots toward them, Moses told the Children of Israel to stand still and see what God would do. God speaks to Moses and says, "Why do you cry to me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward. But lift up our rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea." (Exodus 14:15 &16) Just because God didn't appear to go with Moses to Egypt, doesn't mean He wasn't there. So, why would God join us in tasks and great exploits He has called us to do? It is like having a cheat sheet for a test. God wants us to succeed. He will be there to walk us through, guide us to make the right decisions, and accomplish the great exploits.
Jesus preparing breakfast for the disciples, then calling out to them to cast their net on the right side of the boat is doing the miraculous together. Remember when they fed the five thousand? And again the four thousand? Jesus broke the bread and the disciples distributed. I often wonder if Jesus tore off one piece and dropped it into he basket and as the disciples went to the people the piece of bread or fish multiplied in the basket with each step. That would be a walk of faith. Each step believing the basket would be full when you arrived at the people. The only reason I think it might have happened like this or something similar is because to tear thousands of pieces of bread and fish would take all day and your hands would be extremely fatigued. Scripture tells us they ate until they were full so I am guessing they ate more than one piece each. I don't know how it was done but I look forward to watching the replay when I get to heaven.
The only part the disciples had in the miracle of feeding the five thousand was passing it out and picking up the remainder. The only part of the miracle the disciples were a part of in this fishing expedition was casting the net and hauling it to shore. Each had their involvement. One without the other results in no fish.
Jesus wasn't there when they got in the boat; but He didn't miss the opportunity to join them. He could have waited for them to catch the fish and come ashore, but He didn't. He enjoys being a part of what His disciples are doing. He thoroughly enjoys being a part of what you and I do. God loves to do things with us and have us join Him in what He is doing.
Father, You are amazing. You call us to learn of Your ways and then give us opportunities to join You in great exploits. So many terrible things have happened all over the world. We need You to be involved. We need Your presence and Your miraculous Word to be spoken. I ask for You to speak the cure for COVID-19. I ask for You to speak, "Peace Be Still" and the riots to stop. I ask for You to call forth Your people to do great exploits in rebuilding what has been destroyed. You do not want us to live in reproach as the Israelites did back in Nehemiah's time. Just as You called Nehemiah, You will call an army of people for each city that the enemy has destroyed. Your people will come alongside You and rebuild the cities. I ask for truth to be made known. I pray as the cities are being restored that the people within each city see the hand of God at work, making provision and bringing new opportunities for each one. I ask for You to do what You do, redeem and restore in Jesus' name amen.
A Warrior in the Lord’s Army,

My hope is for Believers in Jesus Christ to join together each day to pray, to push back the enemy as we release God’s power here on earth against the coronavirus, riots, and lies. The prayers will be listed each day as Warriors Arise. I will put a date with it so we can keep them straight. If you have any questions please feel free to make a comment or private message me.
