God Gets the Credit

Warriors Arise: December 20, 2020

1 Samuel 30:23 (NKJV) But David said, “My brethren, you shall not do so with what the Lord has given us, who has preserved us and delivered into our hand the troop that came against us.

David is teaching his men to honor God for what He has done, "The Lord...who has preserved us..." David recognizes he did not do this on his own; they did not do this on their own. David and his 400 warriors did not prevail through their own might or determination. God used their might and determination to do a great exploit with Him.

Daniel 11:32b (NKJV) but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.

David wants his men to know God and to know when God is with them, helping them, strengthening them. David wants his men to know God preserved them. Too many times we take for granted what the Lord has done. This generally happens when we had a part or when we come out the other side of the dangerous or troublesome situation. Our mind sees us doing all the work. Sadly, there are more times than not, that we don't see God as being a part of the victory. Any victory won without God just might be a trap. It might be a situation where the enemy let you win, so that you would think you did it all on your own. Then the enemy tells you that you do not need God. But God is necessary in any battle we fight against the enemy.

I do not have the power to overcome the enemy but Christ in me and God beside me create a way for me to have victory over the enemy. Jesus tells us in John 15:5...for without Me you can do nothing. This is not an insult. It is knowing where our power comes from. It is staying connected to Jesus.

God wants us to defeat the enemy. He knows we can do this when we are connected to Him. God likes us to be a part of the great exploits. David sought God. He and his men had been given a plan to follow. God preserved their lives. David took the time to teach his warriors of God's involvement in the exploit. David knew, without God they could accomplish nothing. David, also knew, with God the outcome would be as the He had said.

These men were being taught to be generous as God had given bounty to them. As well as knowing that even though they were excellent warriors, God had been the one to preserve their lives. David was teaching them to give credit where credit was due.

Father, this year has dealt a devastating blow to so many. I ask for You to wrap Your arms around those who are hurting; because they have lost loved ones during this time of isolation. When family and friends cannot be with them to encourage them, I ask You to meet with them, wrap Your loving arms round them and bring them through this pain by Your amazing love. I pray for You to make the crooked places straight, by Your word. I ask for You to come and preserve America. I pray for You to intervene, expose the deeds done in darkness and for people to know the truth. I pray the lies would be exposed and the truth would be revealed. I pray for Americans to want to know the truth and to live by Your truth. I ask for revival across the land. I ask for the Holy Spirit to counsel those who are confused and bring each one into the truth. I pray for strength and protection for all of those who are taking a stand for the truth. I ask for Your lovingkindness to bring us to repentance. I pray You would be lifted high and magnified through the turmoil we are facing. I ask for You to set the record straight. I pray a blessing over our military and their families. I ask for You to minister to each one in the family to draw strength from You. I pray for those who need You to preserve their job or provide a new one. I ask for You to open up opportunities. I pray each one would see You directing their path and they would choose to follow Your plan in Jesus' name amen.
