Go Ahead, Get Mad as Hell, part 4

Warriors Arise: August 22, 2020

I may not ever get as mad as hell, because I am not seething with anger like the devil. I can get ferocious as a bear, but that may come because I am a mother. Over 20 years ago, I earned the nickname Mama bear before I had any kids. Our youth kids in Texas called me Mama bear.

I am assured of the devil's end and I know life in heaven is going to be amazing. Therefore, I submit to God, resist the devil and he must flee (James 4:7). Resist is a pretty light word for being empowered by God to take down and defeat the devil through prayer and the declaration of His Word. Resist is no pansy of a word; it means to stand against, oppose, to withstand. I doesn't mean to hope the bad things go away. To resist the devil means you and I are going to have to stand strong and not give ground. This calls for a particular mindset in our faith.

Our battle, against the enemy, can be lost or won before we even engage.

Proverb 23:7a (NKJV) For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.

• When a Christians does not know God is for him/her the battle is lost before it begins.

• When a Christian does not know God has given him/her His authority and they are to use over the devil, they have no basis for their position in battle.

• When a Christian does not know God has given him/her dominion over here on earth, we surrender before the enemy taunts us.

• When a Christian does not know God is his/her hedge of protection going before and behind, protection above and below, they allow fear to overcome them.

• When a Christian does not embrace all God has given him/her, the enemy attacks without reservation.

But those who put their trust in the Lord will see God move on their behalf and through them to defeat the enemy.

Where does this battle begin? In your mind.

The enemy will attack, and a mind that is not set on God will falter.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (NKJV) For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

Verse 3: We do not war according to the flesh even though we are flesh and blood. By the blood of Jesus, as a Christian, I call on the name of Jesus and resist the devil. As a child of God, I call on the authority of God to tell the enemy to go. There I times when I have asked God to deal with the matter and He has said, "I gave you the authority over the devil. Use it."

Verse 4: The weapons God has given us are not manmade; they are made by the breath of God. The Word of God is our double edged sword. As we learn the Word, we wield the sword. Jesus defeated the devil in the wilderness with nothing but the Word of God. Jesus quoted Scripture and the devil went away. The Word of God is powerful! It will send the enemy packing.

Verse 4: What are strongholds? A fortified thought or belief. The strongholds of unbelief and the wrong thought process can be pulled down when you and I are willing to learn through the Word of God and apply it. Many times we have rip down the wall paper that covers our mind because our beliefs do not line up with the Word of God. Then we plaster the Word of God to our mind. Fortify Your mind with the Word of God and see the strongholds of wrong thinking crumble.

Verse 5: In our mind we argue. Some of us are even good at arguing both sides of an argument. The devil gets it started and we take it over. He steps back and watches us get more and more bullheaded and confused. To cast down an argument means we have the truth to settle the dispute. There is no argument because there is nothing to argue about. The topic has been settled; therefore there is not argument.

Verse 5: Casting down every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. Do you know how those who identify counterfeit bills learn how to identify them? They never train with counterfeit bills. They train with only real bills. When a counterfeit bill is introduced they immediately know it. When God is the one we exalt, the One we lift high and worship, the One who has our love and devotion every day in all we do it is easy to cast down the thing that comes along and tries to exalt itself above God. We spot the counterfeit immediately because we have God high and lifted up in our heart and mind.

Verse 5: When we know God because we have learned of His ways through a diligent relationship to keep Him high and lifted up every day, we identify the thought process that does not line up with what the Word of God says. When we identify the thoughts that do not line up with the Word of God, we take them captive. We do not allow the to run in our mind. Sometimes we even have to say, "That is not true." Or, "I rebuke that in Jesus' name." Or, "Get behind me satan, you are a liar." Any one of those will do. Just don't let it stay. Reject all thoughts that lead you to question God's love and/or power. Take captive and execute the thoughts that do not line up with God's Word.

Verse 5: We have the responsibility to take every thought captive to the obedience of Jesus. Any thought that does not line up with the Word does not obey Jesus. We must not entertain, dwell upon, a thought that does not demonstrate the Word of God, we must get rid of it.

I may never get as mad as hell but there are times when I need to be in a warrior mindset. I need to be filled with righteous indignation. I need to have the fortitude and persistence to finish what the enemy started. I can never do this in my own strength. I am not strong enough. But in Christ, I have the strength to overcome the enemy and defeat him. I can never do this in my own power. On my own, I just do not have the power to take down the enemy and send him packing. But when I submit to God and put on the righteousness of Christ, I have the strength and the power to resist the devil, take captive every thought that does not line up with the Word of God and defeat the enemy.

Father, I ask for You to come and make Your Word known to me. I want to know You more and understand Your Word. I want to see the enemy sooner, so I can step forward to the battle line and protect the domain You have given me; because You are with me, in me, and have my back. I ask for You to search my heart and mind. If I have any belief that does not line up with Your Word, I ask for You to make it known. I pray I have the character to get rid of the counterfeit and replace it with Your truth. I pray I would have the boldness to admit my wrong belief and submit to Your truth. I want the decisions I make and the choices I choose to be based on truth of the Your Word. I understand I have the right to my decision but when my decision doesn't reflect the Word of God I want the wisdom and tenacity to make a change. I want my choices to reflect You. I ask for You to make known the lies of the enemy who seeks to destroy my life, my family, my country and my world. I no longer want to live with the lies but to honor You by living according to Your Word. I ask for fortitude to take captive every thought that does not line up with Your Word. I ask for courage to get rid of my thinking that does not line up with Your's. The strongholds of my thinking that do not line up with Your Word need to come down today in Jesus' name.I pray I will not grow weary in taking every thought captive that does not line up with who You are and what You have called me to be. I ask for fortitude to attack each and every thought that opposes the Word of God. I pray I will step forward and renew my mind with Your truth. As I submit to You, I will resist the devil and he will flee in Jesus' name amen.
