Warriors Arise: April 30, 2021

Daniel 6:25-26 (NKJV) Then King Darius wrote: To all peoples, nations, and languages that dwell in all the earth: Peace be multiplied to you. 26 I make a decree that in every dominion of my kingdom men must tremble and fear before the God of Daniel. For He is the living God, And steadfast forever;

I find it odd for Darius to decree "and steadfast forever" in reference to the living God. How had he seen Daniel's God as steadfast forever? Technically, Darius had seen God steadfast once but once it was enough to make a believer out of him. He saw the living God do what he, as ruler of the kingdom, couldn't do. He was bound by human laws because he couldn't overturn his own decree. He was bound by his humanness, because he could work any miracles. However, he did not allow the bondage of the decree nor his humanity to keep him from looking for Daniel's God to intervene. I don't think Darius had a clue how God would intervene but he hoped beyond hope. He steadied himself throughout the night to keep his attention on the possibility of Daniel's God doing the miraculous.

How about for you? Have you been in a situation where you were bound by human law, a decree made by someone else? Have you been in a situation where in your humanity you couldn't do what needed to be done?

I have. It is in those moments you see the depth of your belief in the living God. It is in those moments you are confronted to identify what you really believe. It is in those moments you can turn away from the living God and count it all as loss or you can turn toward the living God and see what He will do. Would some say to you what Darius said of Daniel, verse 16b, "Your God, whom you serve continually, He will deliver you."? Even when you are facing adversity at the highest level, do you continue to serve God continually?

Darius declares of the living God, He is steadfast forever. Do you believe that? Do you believe God is unchanging, abounding in love, demonstrating HIs power over decrees and humanness, releasing the captives, healing the hurt, restoring the broken, the redeeming the lost, and doing the impossible to save His people?

Steadfast: permanent, as rising firmly. Sure, secure, enduring.

These are the words describing the meaning of steadfast. Do you see God as permanent? He cannot be removed. He is not going away. He has always been, and is today what He will always be.

Do you see God as rising firmly. When I read those words, rising firmly, it is like the sun coming up in the morning. We can't stop it. It can be hidden by the clouds, like the enemy trying to hide the presence of God. Just as the sun rises every morning, God is always present.

Do you see God as sure? God is unchanging. His love for us is available to break the bondage of fear. His power is demonstrated by His ability to do the impossible. His wisdom will always lead us in the way that will bring about the best outcome. When we call upon Him. He will hear us and answer. Yes, I am sure.

Do you see God as secure? God is the rock upon which I stand, all other ground is sinking sand. I have song those lines since I was a little girl. The Word of God is my strong tower. I run to God and He picks me up and holds me. His love pours over me, saturating every part of me and feel the peace of His strength. His word never fails because it is His love letter to every believer. I am secure in Whose I am and who I am.

Do you see God as enduring? Definitely as word to apply not only to your life but look in the Bible. God put up with so many people! Sometimes I wonder why? He is not the God of second chances. There is no one He only gave a two tries to get it right! I am truly thankful for this! I still do not get my life with Christ right. I am a work in progress. He is the living God of multiple chances. He puts up with my errors, mistakes, outbursts, issues, humanness and sins. He calls me to Himself and says, "I will clean you and set your feet on solid ground." When I confess my sin, He joyfully picks me up and pours His love into my guilt and shame. He has never told me, "That is one too many times." His love is enduring. He has more faith in me than I have in myself. All I have to do is return to Him and He will restore my soul, teach me how to stay free from sin, and set me on the path that will lead to achieving the dreams He has placed inside of me.

Darius learned in one experience the living God is steadfast forever. How about you?

Father, You are amazing! You have loved us from the beginning of time. You have spoken to us of the dreams You have placed within us. You have made Your word active in our lives. You have picked us up and set our feet upon solid ground. You hear us when we call to You. Your love is ever-present. You restore us when we confess our sin. You build us up when we have been torn apart. You are faithful, steadfast and enduring forever. I will worship You will all that I am and with every breath I have. You are my living God, steadfast forever. I will serve You in Jesus' name amen.
