Warriors Arise: April 15, 2024
Matthew 8:30-32 Now a good way off from them there was a herd of many swine feeding. So the demons begged Him, saying, “If You cast us out, permit us to go away into the herd of swine.”
And He said to them, “Go.” So when they had come out, they went into the herd of swine. And suddenly the whole herd of swine ran violently down the steep place into the sea, and perished in the water.
I wonder if Jesus chuckled to Himself when the demons asked if they could be cast out and into the herd of swine. The outcome would suggest it wasn't a very good idea. Jesus probably thought that was the easiest deliverance ever! The demons asked to be cast out and into a host couldn't handle them. Maybe they wanted quick death so they would be tortured.
We know they were afraid. They knew who Jesus was. They knew His power. They knew He was not there in the time He was supposed to be. They recognized Jesus even though He didn't arrived on a white horse in battle array.
I want to be able to recognize Jesus every time He comes my way. The people were still struggling with accepting who Jesus was. These demons, they knew who Jesus was. They were afraid. They didn't 'act out' or show off in front of everyone. They didn't want to be tortured by Jesus so they asked for their own deliverance.
I not only want to recognize Jesus when He comes my way, I want to boldly run up to Him and walk with Him.
My Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. I come to You asking to know when You are here. I do not want to miss you. I want to fellowship with You and be in Your presence. I am not afraid of You. I am courageously compelled to know You, hear You, and walk with You. These demons knew who You were. They recognized You. I want to know You and recognize You. I am not perfect, but, I also am not afraid. I ask for my eyes to be open and my ears to hear You in Jesus' Name. amen.
