Break it Down

Warriors Arise: December 12, 2023

Matthew 6:9a In this manner, therefore, pray...

Don't you just love it! Jesus is about to tell them what to pray. He is going to break it down and lay it out piece by peice. I can't wait to go through these verses over the next week. There is so much richness in what Jesus tells us to pray.

Have you ever asked, "God, I don't know what to pray. Will you just tell me what to pray?"

Did He answer back, "Check out Matthew 6:9-15."?

That makes me smile. I have had the Lord tell me number before, then align with Bible verse, but I have never had Him tell me, "Check out Matthew 6:9-15".

It doesn't mean that He won't. When you are coached by really good coaches they always begin the season with practices the same. Do you know what that is?

They never start with a scrimiage.

They don't start with putting people in specific positoins.

They don't ask the player what position they want to play.

They do not ask the players what they want to do at practice.

They start with drills that teach the players the basics. Why do they do this? Becuase from last year when the season was over to the beginning of this season, they could have picked up bad habits or form. If a player has bad form, you are not going to send them out to play. Therefore, a good coach will always make sure each player is doing the basics with the effective form.

As Father brings me back to Matthew 6:9-15, it is making sure I have the basics of prayer in place. Sometimes players do not like to pracitce the drills that enhance thier abilities because they get bored with the basics. The better you are at the basics, the better you will be individually and as a team.

Jesus is teaching His disciples the basics of prayer. I am so looking forward to getting back to the basics of prayer!

Father, returning to the simpliciy of prayer is refreshing. Each verse on prayer will be like a drill. I want to make sure I have full understanding of each verse and apply it to my life. My desire is to become skilled in the basics. I want to be a contributor to Your team; therefore, I want to be skilled in the basics. Thank You for teaching me how to pray. I will listen and follow Your revelation. I will become skilled in prayer in Jesus' name ame.
