Because He Could

Warriors Arise: January 6, 2021

Joshua 3:9-16 (NKJV) So Joshua said to the children of Israel, “Come here, and hear the words of the Lord your God.” 10 And Joshua said, “By this you shall know that the living God is among you, and that He will without fail drive out from before you the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Hivites and the Perizzites and the Girgashites and the Amorites and the Jebusites: 11 Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth is crossing over before you into the Jordan. 12 Now therefore, take for yourselves twelve men from the tribes of Israel, one man from every tribe. 13 And it shall come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests who bear the ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of the Jordan, that the waters of the Jordan shall be cut off, the waters that come down from upstream, and they shall stand as a heap.” 14 So it was, when the people set out from their camp to cross over the Jordan, with the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people, 15 and as those who bore the ark came to the Jordan, and the feet of the priests who bore the ark dipped in the edge of the water (for the Jordan overflows all its banks during the whole time of harvest), 16 that the waters which came down from upstream stood still, and rose in a heap very far away at Adam, the city that is beside Zaretan. So the waters that went down into the Sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, failed, and were cut off; and the people crossed over opposite Jericho.

As I re-read the passage from yesterday's blog something jumped out at me. God defies all logic. The water which ALWAYS flows down, from the highest point to the lowest point, God decides to pit it up in a heap 18 miles up stream! Then the people cross the Jordan River opposite of Jericho (verse 16). We remember what happened at Jericho. The people of Jericho had built the walls high. They were impenetrable. But God, who sends water up stream 18 miles in a heap then brings down walls that cannot fall. Let your mind think about this. What if you were there seeing the water be pushed back up stream in a heap for 18 miles! How would you respond?

What if you were there when the walls no one can penetrate suddenly tumble to the ground? God did not tell Joshua or the children of Israel He was going to crumble the walls of Jericho. They had no idea what was going to happen after the walled around 7 times and blew their horns and shouted with a great shout. Talk about praising God BEFORE the victory. They had no idea how they were going to get inside Jericho. They did what they were told to do!

My point: When God says now is the time, He is going to defy all reason and do what needs to be done for His people to achieve their destiny by setting them up for the win. God sent the water's back 18 miles in a heap. Why?

• Because He could.

• Because He is God.

• Because He wanted everyone (His people and the Canaanites) to know He is God.

• Because He wanted to world to know there is no other god who is like our God.

• Because now is the time for His people to step into their destiny.

• Because now His people are ready to do what He says and reap the benefits of their faithfulness.

• Because the 40 years is up and He is ready for them to have what He wanted them to have 40 years earlier.

Could you imagine waiting 40 years for someone to receive the gift You intended for them to have 40 years earlier? That would be torture! I realize we have just come out of the Christmas celebration. Most of us who buy our gifts ahead of time have misplaced a gift over the years. We couldn't remember where we put it. But God didn't forget. It was just has hard on God as it was Caleb and Joshua.

I remember when our children opening gifts between the ages of 1 and 3. Sometimes I was so excited for them to see what was inside that I would help them open the gift. I would take my finger and detach the tape. Another time I placed their hand on the paper in the right spot to pull so they could get it off. I wonder if God couldn't wait for His people to get into their promised land that He ripped back the waters 18 miles so they could cross a hundred people across instead of a few at a time. I don't know but it could be possible. Then with Jericho, the children of Israel had followed His every command in leading them He just wanted them to get inside and have victory over their first city. Feeling the thrill of victory is exhilarating. What a charge!

We have so many things going on in the world and in our country today. The coronavirus is still attacking people, the vaccine is being administered as fast as it can be made. We are praying for healing for all who are infected with the virus. The vice president will follow the constitution and people will have to be educated. We will be praying for the vice president. When he follows the constitution there will be all kinds of vile accusation vomited all over the mainstream media. If he were to defy the constitution because of threats to his family he would be violating the office for which he holds and dishonoring his God. He worships and serves God. He will do what is right by the constitution. This is where people will be tested in their personal character. What matters to you? To win by breaking the law or to acknowledge the truth of the situation by being educated in how today in government came to be. Take out what people are saying and learn what our constitution says. If we do not honor the constitution then you and I do not matter, our vote does not matter, our citizenship doesn't matter. I have been praying and believe those things that were done in darkness, the fraud, the bombing of the computer information from the election, the lies are all going to be exposed tomorrow through the justice in our system with Vice President Pence fulfilling his responsibility.

I also believe when Vice President Pence fulfills his responsibility to God and the American people it is going to be a turning back of the water so God's people will get into their promised land. The promises of God you have been waiting for will come to being when you walk across the Jordan River. I hope you have been with me the past 9 days when we have talked about crossing over. I hope you are prepared. Keep in mind just because you are entering your promised land doesn't mean you stop following God. Just like Caleb fought the giants for his mountain, the land God promised him, you and I will have to fight the giants in our land but at least you and I are entering our promised land! This is your time. Don't miss the opportunity. Remember what God has promised. Some of you may need to remember what God has promised you. I am not talking about things you have hoped for. I am talking about specific things God has promised you. When you remember, stand up, picture yourself on one side of a river, see God before you in the river and walk to the other side.

It may seem like a crazy action to do but something inside of us ignites when we go through the motions of being in agreement with God. It is our time to cross over into the promise God has spoken to us.

Father, open my mind to remember what You have promised me. I ask for a clear remembrance of Your words spoke to my heart. I ask for You to give me hope to believe this is the time for me to step into that promise. I prepare my heart to be moved by Your purpose. I open my mind to receive Your instruction and to do as You say to do. I yield to Your leadership in my life. I will not remain on the this side of my promise. I will walk across on dry ground into the fullness of what You have for me. You are my Strength, my Strong Tower. You are the Way Maker. You are the Miracle Worker. You are the One who calls me out into Your perfect plan. You are the One who sets my feet on solid ground. You are the One who picks me up when I have fallen. You are the One making a way when there seems to be no way. You are the One who says today is the day and I chose to follow You. I pray for vice President Pence to be clear about the constitution as he fulfills his responsibility to You and the American people. I pray You would fill Him with courage and boldness. I pray for the people of America to want to be educated about our constitution and desire for it to be upheld. I lift up Your name, the name of the Lord God Almighty, God who was, God who is, and God who is to come. Thank you for positioning Vice President Pence for such time as this. I pray for Your people to honor. I ask for the accuser of the brethren to be silenced in Jesus' name. I pray for lies to end in Jesus' name. I pray for Your kingdom to come and Your will to be done in the American 202 election in Jesus' name amen! Peace of God come. Will of God be done in Jesus' name amen.
