Continued from yesterday's prayer strategy...

"Now behold, two of them were traveling that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was seven miles from Jerusalem. And they talked together of all these things which had happened. So it was, while they conversed and reasoned, that Jesus Himself drew near and went with them. But their eyes were restrained, so that they did not know Him."
Luke 24:13-16
Yesterday I was sharing about the two men traveling to Emmaus. They were conversing and reasoning as they talked about all that had happened.
Reasoning in our own mind, can be a dangerous thing. Our human mind can only know what we have seen and what we have heard. Living the life of a believer is not just about how much we know of Scripture and of God's ways (although that helps) but there is one facet of our relationship with God that is more important than knowledge. It is living each day with the mind of Christ.
"Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted him and given Him the name which is above every name that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow of those in heaven and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." Philippians 2:5-11
You and I can have the mind of Christ. Verse 5 says, "Let this mind be in you," which means it is a choice we have. We have to let ourselves operate with the same mind as Christ, to do this we have to humble ourselves. I may think I am humble but if I make decisions without acknowledging God, then I call the shots for what I want to do. Without consulting God, I am not operating in the mind of Christ. If I do not humble myself, submitting decisions to God, then I cannot be obedient to God. In the midst of my own reasoning, I dismiss what God is saying. When I humble myself, submitting decisions to God, then I can be obedient to God.
Then the question may arise: "How can I trust God to lead me in the direction where I will be satisfied, complete, and happy?"
Ah, the quest to be satisfied. So many people are not satisfied. Why is this? Could it be because we think satisfaction is something that is attained and the feeling of being satisfied should last forever? The problem is satisfaction is something we feel after we have accomplished something. Therefore, we want to be satisfied all the time but it is unattainable. The satisfaction comes because we are no longer in want, meaning we are truly at peace with where we are and what we are doing. We are not striving but content in all things. Satisfaction is extremely difficult to attain when we are not walking with God fulfilling and what He has dreamed we would be and do.
The quest to be complete can be tricky because God is the only one Who can bring completion to our lives. So many people feel empty or incomplete, even believers. Why is this? We feel incomplete when do not have an active, tangible relationship with God. He makes us complete. Sadly, most people put this kind of expectation on their spouse; however, there is a problem with that thinking. It turns into an expectation. If you are weak or in need in an area, you expect that your spouse has the responsibility to complete you, pick up the pieces, be strength in your weakness and fulfill the needs in your life. Your spouse may try to do this; however, your spouse is not God. God is the One who picks up all the pieces of your life and heals you. God is the one who is your strength when you are weak. God is the one fulfills the needs in your life. Your relationship with God, how you turn to Him when you need healing, strength, fulfillment positions you to be complete.
The quest to be happy. God doesn't just want you to be happy, He wants you to be overflowing with joy. There is a difference between happy and joy. To be happy comes from an event or achievement and you feel happy. Happy comes from the outside. Whereas joy is something that bubbles up from within; it is something we walk in daily. Joy is being secure, at peace, confident, and knowing that even when the storm clouds come, God has got your back, in every situation, every time. Joy comes from a confidence in God that one has within their heart and mind.
Father, there is so much turmoil in our land. I ask for You to come, intervene, stop the plans of the enemy. The enemy is using people to tear this country apart. I ask for You to come. There is too much conversing and reasoning in human minds. I pray You would minister to the broken hearted. I pray You would touch the hearts and minds of people who are hurting. I pray You would shut the mouths of those trying to stir up trouble. I ask for You to bring peace upon our land. We need You to intervene. People are struggling with the confinement the coronavirus has caused. People are struggling because they have not had anything to do but stay home and they are tired of it. People are struggling because they want to have a way to express what they see is wrong but then it goes too far. People need Jesus in their lives; people need the Holy Spirit guiding them in their actions and words. I pray for salvation to come to our land. I ask for You to release Your healing power over the hearts and minds of those whose emotions are being played upon by the media. I ask for You to come to the rescue of the people who are being led by their emotions. The only way people will be satisfied is if they know You and walk in Your ways. Your ways will lead them into the blessed and abundant life Jesus died to give each one. The only way for people to be content if is they know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Then they will know what they are called to do and who You have created them to be. The only way for people to know joy, is to be secure in their trust of You. They can have joy when they know You will be there, get them through, and rescue them each time. I pray for each one to yeild their mind to the mind of Christ. I ask for people to now continue to discuss and reason but to turn to You and operate in the mind of Christ Jesus. I ask for people to humble themselves before You and be obedient to Your will. I ask for Your peace to cover the land in Jesus' name amen.
