Matthew 4:8-10 (NKJV) Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9 And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.”

10 Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ”

My personal belief is that Jesus could have told Satan to leave at any time. Even though it would seem the devil didn't know who Jesus was, Jesus knew who the devil was. In this confrontation, Jesus is the one with the authority. The devil has to obey Him. Jesus has had enough and He isn't going to entertain the devil any longer.

As yourself:

Are you finally tired of entertaining the devil?

Are you finally done with allowing the devil to continue to badger you, hoping you will rack?

Are you finally at your limit of amount of time you are going to yield to the devil? These need to be answered.

If you aren't done entertaining the devil, then you won't speak with authority; therefore, the devil won't go.

There are times when we assess we have done everything we can do and still the devil is here harassing us. Why won't he just go? When Jesus tells him to go, he leaves, but when I try to tell him to go, he thinks I am offering him a seat in my favorite chair. What else can you do? Honestly, you can pull the chair out from under him an throw him out. But you do not have to let him continue to sit in your house, in your favorite chair. Do not relinquish the authority God has given you.

Jesus was in charge of this encounter from the beginning. He was yielded to do what the Father wanted Him to do. He submitted to being baptize by John. The Father spoke over Him and gave Him Holy Spirit. He submitted to the temptations of the devil. He didn't give into the temptations of the devil but he allow the temptations to take place. Jesus was obedient to the Father. Jesus is not the victim in these verses. Jesus is the hero. We have to be done thinking we are the victim when we are tempted. God has positioned us to be the victors. However, you are the victim if you continually allow the enemy to take a seat and counsel you. So, the question is, are you done yet? That is not a question for the devil. It is a question for you and me. The answer to the question determines if we live in freedom or captivity.

Father, I am done with the devil speakings lies and constantly looking for the next them he could use to ensnare me in his plans. I will not stand by and give my seat up to the deil. I will occupy my seat, I will occupy my house, I will occupy what You have given me. I will worship You. I will apply the Your Word. The devil no longer has jurisdiction where I am. I will occupy what You have given me. You are my God. I will not disappoint You. I will worship You and praise You for Your Son's love for me. I am done with entertaining the devil. I receive forgiveness and authority in Jesus' name amen.
