Warriors Arise: September 26, 2020

John 21:10-11 (NKJV) Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish which you have just caught.” 11 Simon Peter went up and dragged the net to land, full of large fish, one hundred and fifty-three; and although there were so many, the net was not broken.

I am told my Grandpa Clayton used to put his kids to bed on Christmas Eve, then my Grandma would wrap the gifts as he put them together. Then they would go to bed. He couldn't sleep, because he was so excited for his children to open their gifts. He woke them up in the middle of the night to open Christmas gifts.

God is definitely a gift giver. Just like a Christmas gift, the parent knows what they got their children and are excited to see their children enjoy the gift. Jesus gave the gift of the fish to the disciples. When they reach shore He tells them to bring some of the fish they have just caught. Jesus wants them to open theirs first, in front of Him. They count every fish, 153. Jesus gave them this gift and their net did not break. He knew exactly how many to give them. It was a multitude and the gift brought amazement to the disciples. I thoroughly enjoy watching my kids open their gifts and to complete check it out. Their "wows," "oooh," squeals of delight and amazement on their faces cause my heart to overflow with joy.

God is a gift giver.

John 3:16-17 (NKJV) For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

Jesus is a gift giver.

Luke 24:49 (NKJV) Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.

The Holy Spirit is a gift giver.

1 Corinthians 12:4-11 (NKJV) There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: 8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.

God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit each give us gifts. It is not hard to imagine that they are trying to out give each other. They wait with great anticipation for the day we will throw our net and catch the gift. They look to see if we will open the gift. They desire for us to have what they have given. Jesus didn't need the fish to supply for their breakfast. He had already taken care of that, just like when you go over for Christmas dinner and your parents have the meal taken care of. They want you to come, open the gifts, embrace them, and eat with them.

Nowhere in the Bible does it say we get only one gift. I am curious. What gifts has the Trinity given you? Have you opened them? Do you use them?

Father, I ask for You to reveal to me the gifts You have given me. I am truly thankful for the sacrifice of Your Son as a sacrifice for my sin. I can't imagine how hard it was to turn Your back on Him, as He bore my sin. I am thankful for the gifts Jesus gives me. he ministered with authority over the enemy and the things of this world, because He had the Holy Spirit. I am thankful for the Holy Spirit in my life. I want to minister to others through the love of the Father, with the power of the Holy Spirit. I also want to open the gifts the Holy Spirit offers me. I do not want to continue in life without the gifts the Holy Spirit gives. Since the Holy Spirit has given the gifts then I know they will be needed in my life. I ask to be made aware of the fullness of all You have given me, Jesus has sacrificed to give me, and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to defeat the enemy and strengthen my body of Christ in Jesus' name amen.
