Warriors Arise: November 1, 2021

Series: 30 days On the Other Side of Breakthrough

Luke 17:11-19 (NKJV) Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. 12 Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. 13 And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” 14 So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed. 15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan. 17 So Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? 18 Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” 19 And He said to him, “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well.”

Yesterday, was the last day of the 21 day breakthrough I was doing on Facebook Live. Lives are a video that those on facebook can watch as they are being recorded and then they save for 30 days on facebook. If you missed them, you can return back to October 10th when I did a live describing what God had instructed me to do for the 21 days of breakthrough beginning October 11th-31st. I have felt a 30 day focus in November revealing face to face encounters with God where people received their breakthrough.

I love how the Scripture above begins, "Now it happened". These lepers were looking to be cleansed, to be healed, and to return to their families. They were looking to go home. There is no doubt in my mind they had heard of Jesus and the power of His love demonstrated over all sickness, disease, blindness, the lame, deaf, mute, and demon possessed. Any news of Him being in the area made them vigilant at their position to watch for Him. Today was their day.

  • He came.

  • They shouted.

  • He gave instructions.

  • They obeyed.

What do you do on the other side of breakthrough? Leprosy was the barrier holding them back from everyone they loved, everything they knew, and the purpose they were to fulfill.

Luke 17:15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks.

What do you do on the other side of breakthrough? For the last 21 days I have been encouraging people to believe for what God has promised them. Each one was challenged to write down the very area they wanted to see breakthrough. There were instructions given to be prepared for the breakthrough. I'm not sure this leper thought he would be cleansed and healed like the others. He went because that is what Jesus said, but when he saw that he was completely healed he turned around. He ran all the way back and fell down on his face and glorified God. But Jesus asks him a question.

Luke 17:17 So Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine?

I'm not sure the man knows what to say. Maybe he didn't even hear Jesus, because he is so grateful; therefore, he is wrapped-up in worshipping Him. It's almost as if the man didn't hear him, because then it appears that Jesus asked those with Him the follow question.

Luke 17:18 Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?”

You might think Jesus is still talking with the man on his face before Him until He says, "except this foreigner". Jesus is not upset about this man coming to worship Him, but it seems He is disappointed that the others, His own people, the Jews, the very people He is there to redeem, did not return.

As Christians we can take the demonstrative love of God for granted, just like the 9 Jews who went running off to the priest and didn't turn back to worship the One who had healed them. We have written down the area of breakthrough we need God to remove. We have made our requests known to God. We have declared the mountain be moved into the sea and for grace to abound. Are you prepared to run back to God when the breakthrough happens in your life? This can be harder than you think. As Christians, we take God's miraculous in our lives for granted because we expect Him to hear us and respond. We can have our eyes focused on where we want to go now that we have breakthrough. We think God will understand, He knows how desperately I wanted to return. We can reason in our minds, God knows I love Him and worship Him only but I need to get on with my life.

When the breakthrough comes will you return to God and worship Him? This one man was face to face with Jesus. He glorified God and Jesus said, “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well.” The man's faith made him well.

How will you respond when you get your breakthrough?

Father, in all honesty, I don't know how I will respond. I want my heart to be totally surrendered to You. I want to think that I would return to You and glorify God. Today, whether I have my breakthrough or not, I am going to worship you like I have my breakthrough. I will shout out with my whole being and magnify the name of the Lord. I will sing and dance. It might be awkward but You are worthy of my praise. I will lift Your name on high and glorify God in Jesus' name amen.
